CLOW and Childcare During the 11am Mass

Both Children’s Liturgy of the Word and childcare begin Sept. 10 during our 11:00 Mass.  Childcare is offered for steady crawlers through pre-school aged children, in our school building after school care room.  If you are interested please contact Julie Corbell at jacorbell@yahoo.com.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is for children pre-school through second grade during the 11:00 Mass.  Children are dismissed during Mass to hear the Scripture messages at their level and returned to parents at the offertory.  If you would like your children to participate, please contact Sarah Terrell at sarahgterrell@gmail.com.

New Ministry!!!

Inspired by the work that we did in St. Louis on our Mission Trip, Youth Ministry will be starting a new ministry that will focus on the Corporal Works of Mercy.  But this ministry isn’t just geared toward students, we would like the ENTIRE parish to participate.  Our vision is a multigenerational group of people working to help others in our community.  We specifically encourage families to participate together, as a family, since so many activities seem to be pulling families in different directions.

Initially the justice ministry will be focusing on homelessness in our city, and as this ministry grows we will be able to talk about other Works of Mercy.   We will meet once a month.  At the first meeting we will construct blessing bags for homeless in our city and the next month we will distribute the blessing bags in some way.  Everyone who participates will get to experience both direct and indirect service.  And then the process starts all over.

Before our first meeting, we need supplies.  You can find a complete list of supplies needed by visiting:

http://bit.ly/blessbagsupply

Boxes will be available in the back of church to collect supplies starting August 20th.  Gift cards to purchase supplies will also be accepted.

If you have any questions  contact Mandy Kumler at the parish office.

And save the date.  Our first meeting will be September 20th, from 6-8:30pm in the Dickman Center

High School Religious Class Registration is OPEN.

Calling All Students in Grades 9-12!

This year the High School Religious Ed. Classes will be taught by a team of dedicated catechists.  The classes will meet 2 Sundays a month during PREP, 9:30-10:45am, in the extra 6th grade classroom. We are hoping that having the classes at this time will better accommodate busy family calendars, especially if you have younger siblings that attend PREP. Classes begin Sept 10th.  We will be continuing to use the “Understanding the Catechism” series of books for our text, with this year’s focus being on the Prayer.  In order to cover the cost of text books and supplies, there is a $25 fee for one student, $40 fee for 2 students, and $50 fee for 3 students.  Checks can be made payable to St. Aloysius and delivered to the Parish Office.  Any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Mandy Kumler, Coordinator of Youth Ministry (502-241-8452, EXT 1005 or mkumler@staloysiuspwv.org).

Vacation Bible School 2017: Thank You!

Thanks to all those who participated and contributed to Vacation Bible School this year.  We had a great time. We were blessed with beautiful weather, a little cool on Wednesday for wet and wild, but very nice for the rest of the week. Special thanks to Sally Sauerbeck for sewing over 250 bandannas in fifteen different colors for the children to wear.  This was a marvelous idea of hers that helped the small group leaders identify their group by color.  We greatly appreciate her stewardship.  We also want to give special recognition to Pam State and her family who decorated the stage.  The set was so professionally done.  Folks who saw the stage on Friday came in on Monday and couldn’t believe their eyes.  There was a rocket in the entrance way,on the stage you found a robot, another rocket, flashing lights, and moving parts all over the place.  It was a true masterpiece. We had special visitors join us too, Fr. Jack and the Chick-fil-A Cow.

Young Adult Gathering

Recently several Young Adults have come forward asking to have some kind of gathering connected to our Church.  We want to spread the word so we can make this an opportunity for any Young Adult associated with our parish.  When we say Young Adult, we mean anyone who is out of high school and under 30.  We are hoping to build a small Christian community for people in this demographic.  Share this with anyone who you would think be interested and encourage them to attend.

The first event will take place on June 4th, at 8pm.  We will gather to watch the movie “The Way”, which shares the story of one man traveling the Camino de Santiago.  We will even have 2 people who completed the Camino share their personal stories.  The event will take place at the home of the Fahy’s (117 Edgewood Way, Pewee Valley) just up the road from Church.  Come and see what its all about!  To RSVP or to ask any questions, contact Mary Hynes at the Parish office.

Parish Yard Sale

The parish is hosting a Yard Sale on June 3, from 9am until noon, to benefit the High School Summer Mission Trip Team.  Parking Spaces can be purchased for members of the community to sell their items.  Spots cost $5 in advance or $8 the day of the event.  You may also donate items for the Youth Group to sell.  Donation drop offs can be arranged by contacting Mandy Kumler in the Parish Office.  For more information about the sale, visit the guidelines for sellers: http://bit.ly/meetupguidelines
