Mercy in Motion October 9th

The First Mercy in Motion of the year will be held on October 9 in the Cafeteria from 6:30-8pm.

Mercy in motion is an outreach ministry in which the ENTIRE parish is encouraged to participate.  The goal of Mercy in Motion is to create a multi-generational group of people that  work together to help others in our community.  We specifically encourage families to participate together, as a family, since so many activities seem to be pulling families in different directions.   At the first meeting we will construct blessing bags for homeless in our city and the next month we will distribute the blessing bags in some way.  Everyone who participates will get to experience both direct and indirect service.

Before our first meeting, we need supplies.  You can find a complete list of supplies needed by visiting: http://bit.ly/blessbagsupply.

Boxes will be available in the back of church to collect supplies.  Gift cards to purchase supplies will also be accepted.  If you have any questions  contact Mandy Kumler at the parish office.

PREP Starts Aug 25th: What is it?

St. Aloysius Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) is for students in grades 1-8 who attend public school.  PREP works with families to provide opportunities for  students to grow in their faith and develop a personal relationship with Jesus.  Students are prepared in first and second grades to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.  Students in seventh and eighth grades are prepared to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation.  Registration forms are available on the parish web site (http://bit.ly/parishforms2, and go to PREP forms), in the back of church, and from the parish office.  Please register by August 1.  We like to place students in classes with children they know from the school they attend.  Classes begin August 25.

RCIA Starts Sept 15th: What is it?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, which is better known as RCIA, is a process designed for three different groups of people: (1) adults (age 7 and older) who are not baptized and would like to join the Catholic Church, (2) adults who were baptized as children into the Catholic faith, but who have not completed their initiation in the Church because they have not celebrated their First Eucharist and/or Sacrament of Confirmation, and (3) adults who have been validly baptized in another Christian denomination and who now want to be received in the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds into the RCIA process. Here at St. Aloysius our RCIA groups meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:45, beginning September 15th. If you don’t already do so, we strongly encourage you to begin to attend Mass weekly. Those unable to join in receiving Eucharist are encouraged to go through the Communion line with their arms crossed to receive a blessing. Contact Mary Hynes at the parish office if you are interested in beginning the RCIA process 502-241-8452.
