Significant Milestones in the History of St. Aloysius
St. Aloysius cemetery built.  Small group of Catholics built and called the land(located at the corner of Central Ave. & Rollington) "Catholic Hill".
The group built a four-room cottage dedicated to St. Aloysius.  It served as a mission to priests from Shelbyville and the Cathedral of Louisville.
Officially became a parish.  Rev. A. J. Harnist appointed as first priest.
First St. Aloysius school built.  It was abandoned in 1894 as people relocated closer to the railroad in Pewee Valley.
Land purchased and the Parsonage was built.  This two-story while building still stands (next to the chapel) and is used as a meeting sight for many activities.
Second St. Aloysius church (renamed "the chapel" in 1992) was built after two years.
Sisters of Mercy joined the St. Aloysius community and resided in a  Victorian house located just West of the church, which they named Mount Mercy.
First St. Aloysius school in Pewee Valley was opened by the sisters.
Franciscan order, which provided priest to St. Aloysius for 14 years, was replaced by a parish priest, Father Albert J. Schmitt, who was elevated to Monsignor in 1957.
School relocated to larger location, "Foley House", (currently used as the Parish Office).  The garage(still located in back) was used as an annex as the school grew.  A larger house also was added to the parish school facilities until it burned.  The remaining portion was moved and used by the caretaker, Arthur Butler.  The house was known as "Arthur's House" until 1984 when it was refurbished, by the Men's Club, and renamed "The Eagle's Nest".
First phase of the current St. Aloysius school was erected.
Rev. Msgr. Joseph Allgeier joined the parish and was influential, with the help of the Men's Club, in building the current gymnasium and multi-purpose part of the school.  The expansion was finished in 1982 and formally named "Allgeier Hall".
Rev. Vicent Schweizer joined the parish.  He was influential in the expansion of the school and the building of the current church as a result of enormous membership growth.
Third (and current) church was dedicated to St. Aloysius.
School expansion was designated as "The Parish Lifetime Learning Center".
Current pastor, Father Jack Caldwell joined St. Aloysius.  Under his direction, adjoining land (which includes Woodside) was purchased for future expansion.
