November 2009 Parish Council MeetingsParish Council Meeting 11-23-09 Attending: Mike Wheatley, Michael Ray, Father Dave, Kathy Porter, Becky McGaughey, Jim Kramer, William Yates, Kelly King, Doug Niebrugge, Andy Koch, Michael Logsdon, Mary K Delodder, Kara O’Daniel, Shelly Davis, Father Jack, Ann Kaelin Absent : Kevin Zeillmann, Maryann Hayslip, Dawn Nelms Opening Prayer Kelly King and Williams Yates reviewed the restructuring of Administration and Finance Committees. (see attached) This will result in one committee and result in the removal of William Yates on the parish council with Kelly King now being a member of the parish council. William was thanked for his years of dedicated service. Kelly King also reported that the loan from the Archdiocese has been approved. This will save our parish thousands of dollars over the life of this loan. Lighting system – can be completed for approx $12,000 Plans are in progress to improve the sound system. Old business – Request for using Straub Funds in order to complete the below 2 projects for our school. A. Security door updates: 2 bids received fro the replacement of gym entrance doors and repairs to exterior doors. Louisville Handyman $12,658 Construction Hardware $18,000 B. Add Keyfob security system to all exterior doors with the exception of the 4 courtyard doors. Sonitrol $14,710 plus $153/ mo for monitoring and service agreement Honeywell $27,800 plus maintenance agreement A third bid is being secured with will be assessed this week. Shelly Davis pointed out that, again, we are getting information and asked to vote immediately. Several members agree that we should get this type of info have time to think over it before a vote is presented. The Admininistration, finance, and school board have all approved the above request, even though the 3rd quote has not been received. Even if the Parish Council approves, the Archbishop will have to approve because the expenditure is over $10,000. A motion was made by Mike Wheatley to approve Louisville Handyman at $12,658 and Sonitrol at $14,710 to be paid from the Straub fund unless the 3rd bid comes incheaper. The $153 monthly service agreement will be paid from the general fund. This was seconded by Mike Logsdon. All were in favor, nobody opposed. The question was asked if we will get a reduction in our insurance premium as a result of this increased security. Jim Kramer said he will find out and let us know. Chairmans Report – Mike Wheatley Tech Committee – they are overhauling the website and need info from each coordinating committee. Shelly Davis requested that the web be blackberry savvy. Mike will contact Bernie Fussenegger to see why the parish council minutes aren’t being posted to the website and what we need to do to make sure that starts happening again. Pastors Report – (see attached) 8 New families joined the parish Building the future of Hope Campaign Feb 14th – evening of Marriage enrichment will have a mass and dinner with the Archbishop in attendance. Youth Report – (see attached) Formation Report – (see attached) School Report – (see attached) Worship Report –(see attached) Mary Kathryn Delodder New Liturgy planning team is in place. Care team will now report under services only. Social Concerns – nothing to report, Becky McGaughey Stewardship- Jim Kramer Jim has a volunteer that will be taking notes during stewardship meetings, therefore he will have reports for the parish council in the future. Next meeting is Nov 22nd. New Business – People want to be able to get into the Chapel more often. We have to have at least 2 people in attendance at all times for the Chapel to be open. At this time, due to security reasons, it is not possible to have the doors open and unmanaged. Announcements – Father Dave said the dome in the playground has been repaired.
